UGC NET outsourced- CBSE to take over................ UGC has finally reached consensus to outsource its prestigious NET, which will now be conducted by the CBSE. The University Grants Commission, on Tuesday, came out with the decision to outsource the National Eligibility Test (NET) which is conducted twice each year for university level teaching and junior research fellowship. The decision to hand over the reins to CBSE was made because UGC has been ill-equipped to conduct the examination on the nationwide front. The decision had been lurking in the corridors for more than a year now and its face was decided by a meeting of the full commission. If things are to go as planned, there is a huge probability that the upcoming December 2014 NET will be conducted under the watchful eyes of the CBSE. CBSE has been conducting the All-India Engineering Entrance Examination and All India Pre-Medical Test annually in the past and have the infrastructure to deal with a nationwide examination. UGC will share its resource persons with CBSE in order to set the question papers in 80 subjects. Although CBSE has prior expertise in conducting examination but this will be the first test that it will be conducting for post graduation students, it has so far been conducting the paper only for secondary and school-leaving students. The University Grants Commission holds the National Eligibility Test (NET) twice each year for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.
