UHURU MIGHT BE ARRESTED iN HAGUE President Uhuru Kenyatta - TopicsExpress

UHURU MIGHT BE ARRESTED iN HAGUE President Uhuru Kenyatta should tread carefully over this ICC saga.it is apparent that the President has decided to honor his ICC date and that is a welcome decision to many Kenyans who are afraid of sanctions and economic slump if he decides otherwise. But what awaits him in Hague. Nobody knows. But we can speculate as we study carefully the precedent that has brought this case thus far. The argument at the court both from the victims lawyer and the prosecution is that President Uhuru is the greatest obstacle in obtaining evidence that is crucial to nail him. They have presented this view even as early as two months ago when Bensouda claimed sensationally that the President has killed key Mungiki leaders to conceal his involvement in post-election violence which bear the gist of his accusations. Such claims will not be treated casually by the Judges. Apparently, they want to prove that the billions of dollars assigned to the court since Kenyan cases surfaced in ICC are justified. And how best to demonstrate it, if not to nail the ‘worthy catch’ or its prized trophy ever, the Kenyan President! The status conference slated on Wednesday might shock the world. The President will face a very unfamiliar ground. Something that make the opponents of his Hague visit carry a valid argument. For eight hours, President Uhuru will be denied access to his security coterie, his phones and his freedom. He will be at the mercy of judges even for a decision as minor as visiting the washroom! If anything this alone will have abused the country sovereignty and trashed the democratic voice of 40 million Kenyans. For fear of sanctions, trade embargoes and Kenya alienation from community of nations, the citizens of this country are willing to sell their sovereignty or even trash it, their own President who represent their aspirations and ‘symbol of unity’ as constitution rightly envisage will be a Prisoner in a foreign court! These fears are unfounded and should be dismissed with strong contempt. Why should the country make a decision based on fear other than courage, based on cowardice other than patriotism? Where is the country’s pride and its perceived freedom. Have we not sold ourselves for pittance and like Esau sold our birthright. President Uhuru will betray the country and the continent. And the level of respect and trust accorded to him will gravely erode. The possibility of his arrest are high and we will have to prepare for the worst. Let us wait.
