UHURUS CHIEF ADVISOR MOI TO APPEAR IN COURT MARCH 25th. ----------------------------------- Ex-President Moi sued by widow of the late MP Jean Marie Seroney for wrongful arrest and torture that resulted to the premature death of the MP in 1982. The case was filed by Gitobu Imanyara. Jean-Marie Seroney (25 July 1927 – 6 December 1982) was one of Kenya’s most ardent human rights defenders, an outstanding legislator and prisoner of conscience. He served as the Member of Parliament for Nandi from 1961 to 1966 and for Tinderet from 1966 to 1975, when he was arrested and detained without trial. Seroney condemned corruption in high places, unfair distribution of national wealth, theft of land from the poor and landless, the chaotic resettlement program and abuse of office by those in power.
