UKIP-battered David Cameron visits Dyson - only for Sir James to tell him to leave the EU By TristanCork | Posted: November 21, 2014 CameronDyson Prime Minister David Cameron brushed off UKIPs by-election victory last night with a visit to Wiltshire inventions firm Dyson - only for Sir James Dyson to reveal he thought Britain should leave the European Union to escape bullying Germans. Mr Cameron came to Dyson to see the Wiltshire firm’s ambitious £250 million expansion plans, which are getting underway this autumn. The Western Daily Press first revealed Dyson’s plans to recruit3,000 new engineers and staff back in February and the firm has since won planning permission, with work starting on four new buildings to house the huge new expansion. But the day after the Conservatives lost a second by-election to UKIP, Sir James Dyson added his voice to those calling for Britain to leave the European Union – much to Mr Cameron’s embarrassment. The Prime Minister admitted to having ‘lively discussions’ with the Wiltshire inventor around the cabinet table – Sir James is one of Mr Cameron’s business advisors – over the issue of immigration and the EU. “I think its a European Union dominated by Germany, and in our particular field we have these very large German companies who dominate standards setting and energy reduction committees, and so we get the old guard and old technology supported and not new technology,” Sir James said yesterday.
