UKIP hope to woo Labour voters by promising to cut our foreign aid - TopicsExpress

UKIP hope to woo Labour voters by promising to cut our foreign aid budget by 85%. Not repurposing it. Not making it more conditional, or no longer wasting it on projects where the money gets hijacked by corrupt governments to buy guns. Just... not helping people any more. We are one of the richest nations in the world. Our foreign aid budget is 1.4% of our overall spending. 1.4%. How much did we spend bailing out the banks? Or on our repeated attempts to wipe the word Iraq off the map? We have poor people in this country too, not getting the things they need in order to share in Britains relative wealth as a nation. But does anyone really believe that their benefits are being stolen by a 10 year old child in Africa who weighs what a 2 year old child weighs here? Rather than a 5% tax cut for the super rich, or Government sanctioned tax dodges for corporations, or Prince William getting 7 million to decorate his house, or MPs claiming 300k in expenses? I find it very sad that a major political party (lets not kid ourselves that UKIP consists entirely of loonies and closet nazis - they articulate a simple right wing view that many people, frustrated with our current mainstream parties, find attractive) thinks it can win votes by promising to let people starve. That is an awful reflection - not of UKIP - but of us.
