ULBEUF protest in favour of their demands Demands stringent action against corrupt officials Srinagar, Dec 31, CNS: The J&K Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum on Wednesday staged a peaceful sit-in protest demonstration at the premises of Old Secretariat. the protests were led by president of J&K Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum Maznoor Ahmad Pampori. Reports said that scores of ULBEUF members assembled at media hub here and demanded regularization of daily wagers and consolidated staff, transparent and time-bound transfer policy, and the release of 6th pay commission arrears. The protesters alleged that they have been suffering from past six years as according to them corrupt and dishonest officers were at the helm of affairs. “We want stringent action against those offices who have already been booked under corruption charges,” Pampori told CNS. Police detained several protestors after they tried to take a march towards city-centre Lal Chowk. A police official said the protesting employees were released soon after their release. (CNS)
