ULTIMATE GLORY OF PAIN AND DEVOTION A lot of sacred pain lies - TopicsExpress

ULTIMATE GLORY OF PAIN AND DEVOTION A lot of sacred pain lies behind moments of ultimate devotional peaks ... I have heard that Dilip Sahib was personally going through some hurt during the days this song was picturised..you can see it written on his face,in each one of his gestures, especially the movement of his eyes and fingers......And to think that Dilip Sahib is singing a hymn from a culture he was not born into, but experience the anguish behind every little movement he makes, begin with the sway of his fingers in the first line dukh main na koi. Pain alone lends understanding.Pain -profound pain - alone brings compassion.Pain alone brings humility.Pain is God. Do not love your pain, raise through it, transcend it... Pain alone lends depth and profundity to happiness. Without an extreme experience of pain, happiness is just empty giggles. No wonder, Saira ji picked this hymn and Dilips Sahibs rendition of it for a special mention in her foreword to Dilip Sahibs autobiography, Shadow and Substance, presented to me by dear friend Rinnkie K Gill. (I do not go with the first line, which I believe contradicts the flow of this otherwise beautiful bhajan, but perhaps that was necessary to underscore pain for a layman like me.) Indias - and arguably one of the worlds - greatest actors in one of the most poignant moments lifted to sublime heights of humility experienced in heart, experiences on skin ---- and this is from a pretty ordinary film, highlighting yet again how a genius can touch almost anything to grandeur. https://youtube/watch?v=cewJDl8hDog
