UN Agency Suspends Cash Assistance To Gaza War Victims The United Nations Agency that cares for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has suspended cash assistance to the victims of last summers Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip. UNRWA had only received 135 million dollars out of 724 million dollars pledged by international donors at a conference in Cairo in October. UNRWA has already paid 77 million dollars to 66,000 families either to renovate their badly damaged houses or to pay temporary rent, the statement said. The agencys Gaza Strip Operations Director, Robert Turner, called the delay in paying the pledged donations unacceptable.
