UN BOSS HAIL JBs POVERTY ERADICATION EFFORTS The newly appointed Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, has praised Malawi leader Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda for the various efforts she has put in place that are aimed at reducing household poverty especially among women and the youth. Mlambo-Ngcuka was speaking in Nathenje where she toured New Nathenje Bulking Group, a cooperative that is reaping the fruits of the Presidents One Cow Per Family programme under the Presidential Initiative on Poverty and Hunger Reduction. The former South African deputy President also added that she had never thought she would see womens lives improving courtesy of a cow thus urged the Malawi government to double the number of beneficiaries to ensure that many women from across the country have benefited. She encouraged her fellow women to send as many young girls as possible to school as part of long term strategy to getting rid of entrenched poverty. The One Cow Per Family Programme is the Presidents brain child which is targeting one million families as beneficiaries by the end of 2015. #JB MOMENT. ONE PRESIDENT AT A TIME!!!!!
