UN RACCONTO DATATO 4 NOVEMBRE 1944 e il rapporto del 1st Lt. Edwin Kregloh gregario del Capitano Carlson nella ricognizione di quel giorno di guerra. Base di Pisa . . .Took off at 13.30, climbed on heading of 320°until we had 11000 feet and were south east of Genoa. We turned inland taking up a heading of 0° and when were over the mountains we began to let down to 8000 feet. We spotted a truck 0-9598 and shot it up in flames, we then headed west where we spotted another truck and damaget it at 0-9498. We then spotted an electric train, shot it up at J-6207. Proceeding west we spotted 4 large troop trucks at J- 5909 (Bergamasco!), we made our pass on them and got one flamer. There were troops on the trucks and we came in for another pass, (light 20mm flak was encountered on the first pass). Captain Carlson went in first and fired and broke right, I followed him in, shot and broke right also. I noticed his plane was smoking some and several large puffs came out of it. He called me saying Kregloh!. I answered, but he did not acknowledge. His plane went into a gentle glide and hit the side of a hill. Just a split second before he hit I saw his chute begin to open. The plane hit and explodet, the chute and all going into the crash. I circled once, but saw no sign of life, everything was on fire. Then i headed for home.
