UN Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Jamie McGoldrick expressing the UN’s sadness at the demise of Nanda Prasad Adhikari -- “Transitional Justice mechanisms should have been in place and implemented a long time ago as was stipulated in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. The UN in Nepal urges the Government to honour its commitment to give justice to the victims in line with the Interim Constitution, existing laws, international commitments, accepted principles of justice, the verdict of the Supreme Court and the recommendations of the National Human Rights Commission.... The UN did its utmost to support human rights organisations and other stakeholders in their efforts to prevent the death of Nanda Prasad Adhikari and now calls on them to come together to save the life of Ganga Maya.
