UN: The UN body tasked with monitoring incidents of torture, the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture, suspended an official visit to Azerbaijan announcing that repeated obstructions to on-site visits had compromised the integrity of the mission. As a signatory of the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the government of Azerbaijan is obligated to facilitate UN delegations on-site visits and official meetings.
