UN should fulfill its prime responsibility on missing persons: Farooq Rehmani Islamabad, August 30: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, on the International Day of Disappeared Persons, today, urged the UN Human Rights Council to begin on spot inquiry into thousands of Kashmiris who were illegally arrested by India’s net-work of army, paramilitary and police during the last twenty-four years and never returned to their homes or recovered dead or alive. Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement in Islamabad said that while parents or spouses of the disappeared Kashmiris were tearfully waiting for them hoping in hopeless and haunting surroundings, the puppet regime responsible for their plight had never addressed the demand of the victims to prosecute any official involved in the disappearances. The JKPFL Chairman deplored that India continued to turn deaf ear to the demands of the Kashmiri mothers who were wandering from pillar to post for their loved ones; while there could be no higher demand than recovering the missed ones. He said that the puppet administration was openly flouting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and UN Protocol on Enforced Disappearances; while the world forums had never asked India to explain its conduct in this regard before the proper forum. He emphasized that the UNHRC should not shirk its prime responsibility on the cases of forcibly disappeared and unmarked graves in occupied Kashmir to redress the grievances of the Kashmiris if it really believed in peace, stability in the region and in its success as the right place for resolving international disputes according to the relevant resolutions. On the other hand, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League paid rich tributes to five youth martyred by Indian troops in Kangan area of Ganderbal. The JKPFL General Secretary, Ghulam Ahmad Parrey, in a statement in Srinagar said that freedom-loving people of Jammu and Kashmir would never forget their martyrs and would take their mission to its logical end. He also condemned the highhandedness of the member of so-called Village Defence Committees in Padder area of Kishtwar district.
