UNASHAMED Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. A while back there was a movie called “Armaggeddon.” In the movie, one of the characters was a dead beat guy who had a kid and he wasn’t really allowed to be around him. The mom was ashamed of the dad and she didn’t want her kid to be around ‘such a loser.’ This man was also part of a team that were drillers and in the context of the movie, they were needed to embark on a very dangerous mission to save the world by drilling into an asteroid that was on a collision course with the earth. As news of who the drillers were made available to the public, this man was now considered a hero and long story short, when he returned, the same mom who once was ashamed of him, now was proud of him and wanted her kid to be with his dad. There is something about being heroic that inspires a very healthy pride. There is no one in the history of the world that matches the heroics that Jesus portrayed at the cross by defeating sin, hell, and death. He is someone we all must be proud of knowing. We can’t be people that deny Him, and act ashamed of knowing His truth. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the power of God for salvation and the answer to all of this world’s pain, sin, and bondage. We must understand the incredible honor we bear in being representatives of the King of Kings. Friends, the enemy will always try to make us shy away from standing up for Jesus, but if we can see the beauty of the gospel, we will carry our banner with pride and distinction. God bless! Let your light shine! In Christ, Kelly
