UNBROKEN -The Movie, opening Christmas Day: Angelina Jolie directed this true story of LOUIE ZAMPERINI. He ran in the 1936 Olympics, met Hitler at the Fuhrers request. When World War II breaks out, Louie enlists in the military. After his plane crashes in the Pacific, he survives an incredible 47 days adrift in a raft. There he promised God he would dedicate his life to him if he got out alive. Then he was rescued/captured by the Japanese navy. Sent to a POW camp, Louie becomes the favorite target of a particularly cruel prison commander. When the war ended, he backslid, until until his wife dragged him to a Billy Graham revival. Then he went to Japan to forgive his cruel captors. Very famous. I was told his story at my YMCA summer camp when i was in 6th grade. UNBROKEN is the best-seller by Laura Hillenbrand (who wrote Sea Biscuit). This movie has been advertised for almost a year, much anticipated. Louis died this year at 97. But not until Angelina showed him the pre-cut version of her cinematic homage to him. https://youtube/watch?v=kk1M_HwmFMM
