UNDER 15’4S Defeated by Swansea 30-4. Dungog made the drive to Swansea to take on the competition leaders. This was going to be a big ask of the boys with only being able to field a team of 12.Dungog made the kick off and Swansea fumbled the ball straight away giving Dungog a good opportunity down their end but just unable to break through the Swansea defence. Swansea had the ball back after the 5th tackle and managed to get through the defence to run the length of the field to score. Luckily they repeated their mistake from the restart, knocking the ball on and putting Dungog in another handy position. This time the boys took advantage of their position and the ball got out to Harry Boorer who got across the line to put the only points on the board for Dungog. Unfortunately from this point Swansea was able to score a few quick tries and with plenty of reserves on the bench were able to make regular interchanges. In comparison Dungog had an empty bench and by this stage had a couple of boys injured. It didnt take long for Swansea to monopolize on our lack of numbers and with Dungog just not being able to cover all positions and spread themselves out over the ground Swansea could pick the gaps to run towards. Dungog never gave up and defended hard and in one tackle Blake Fisher ran down and tackled the 2nd fastest runner in the state. Surprisingly when the wind dropped it turned into quite a warm afternoon and the heat combined with fatigue along and only 11 on the field now at halftime it was decided that it was in the boy’s best interests to forfeit the game as they had to back up the next day for a catch up game. The Swansea side were very understanding and happy to oblige. It was a gallant effort for those that played with all players giving 100%. Final score 4-30 Points Harry Boorer 3, Steven Muddle 2, Bryson Braham 1, Ian Brockwell 1.
