UNDERGRADUATE VACATION WORK- Every October, Abergeldie invites applications for summer vacation work (12 weeks) from undergraduate students entering their final year of study. Students in construction management and civil, mechanical and process engineering are welcome to apply for vacation in Sydney, Brisbane or Newcastle. Typically casual employment is then offered to vacation work candidates throughout their final year of undergraduate study. Most who complete the program take up full-time professional employment with Abergeldie as graduate engineers. Tasks you could be assigned cover the full project cycle: Estimating – Prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQs), issue RFQs to tenderers, follow up RFQs from tenderers and input pricing into estimates, prepare tender programs and construction methodologies. Pre-construction – Prepare Management Plans, Safe Work Method Statement (SWMSs) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and appoint subcontractors. Construction – Attend site meetings with subcontractors, manage subcontractor’s performance, quality and safety, approve subcontractor’s costs, monitor and update the construction program and develop end of month forecasting. Completion – Develop defects lists, manage defect rectification, and develop as-constructed plans and Operation and Management Plans. If you are due to graduate in the next 12 months and are looking to complete vacationional work, please upload your details so they can be considered by our recruitment team.
