UNDERSTANDING THE UNITED NATIONS AT THE DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY OF THE CARIBBEAN Registration is open for the 4th module of module of Diplomatic Academy of the Caribbean: Understanding the United Nations which runs from Monday August 11th to Friday August 15th, 2014. This module will provide participants with knowledge and understanding of the basic principles governing the United Nations system architecture, the United Nations founding values, the functioning of its main bodies such as the General Assembly, the Security Council and the Economic and Social Council, the articulation with countries’ missions and the main issues and points of negotiation on several hot topics. It will be facilitated by: Walther Lichem, former Austrian Ambassador who served in a number of roles in the United Nations during his professional career and Professor W. Andy Knight, Director of the Institute of International Relations at The UWI; he’s served as Vice Chair of the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS).
