UNDP CONTINUES SUPPORTING ENTREPRENEURS OF TAJIKISTAN IN INCREASING THEIR EXPORT POTENTIAL The Sughd region entrepreneurs are exploring the ways of increasing their export volumes. 23 May 2014 21-23 May,2014, Khujand. Sughd region entrepreneurs are exploring the ways of development of their export potential and ways of increasing their export volumes on 3 days seminar organized by UNDP’s Aid for Trade project jointly with USAID’s Afghanistan trade and revenue Project (ATAR) and with close cooperation with Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sughd region. Trade, investment and economic cooperation are essential for Tajikistan and other Central and South Asia countries. This is why the main object of UNDP’s and USAID’s programs is expansion and improvement of trade in the region by increasing trade and export potential of a private sector, establishment of business relations as well as identifying untapped opportunities of trade. Conducting a 3 day seminar is a preliminary stage in the preparation of entrepreneurs to participate in the Business To Business forum” (B2B), which is scheduled for June 23-24 in Dushanbe, where as well entrepreneurs from Afghanistan and Pakistan will participate. During the seminar the Sughd region entrepreneurs studied topics such as export marketing, the impact of trade and investment on economic growth, practical elements of development of export potential in companies and use of public- private dialogue mechanisms to improve the competitiveness of export. As it was noted by Mr. Abdullozoda the General Director of LLC “Zoda” – “ every entrepreneur along with production of goods for domestic market at the same time is trying to exploit opportunities for exporting them too. From this perspective current seminar provided us with invaluable assistance in obtaining required skills that we are going to use during establishment of new contacts and initiation of business partnerships with our neighbors from Afghanistan”. This event was attended by representatives from Administration of Sughd region, Trade chamber of commerce and industry of Sughd region, FEZ “Sughd”, business associations, invited experts, managers and specialists from 30 companies of Sughd region working in the food, textile and construction industries such as: LLC JSC “Silkoat Boya”, LLC” Zoda”, LLC “Alfa Pet”, LLC “Real”, LLC “Galai Sughd”, LLC “Niku Khujand”, LLC “Fayzi Rasul” and others.
