UNEVENTFUL NIGHT Hello Friends!! I just wanted to pass along the events of the evening! First of all I want to thank the Youngstown Police Department for talking with us and allowing us to check on some of the areas we looked for homeless. Tonight was a very uneventful night! We drove the city for hours looking for our friends in need! We drove around the vacant steel mills as well as down by the river and tracks... nothing.. we couldnt even find fires burning. The camps that are set up even by the B&O as well as the firework factory seemed to be vacant. No signs of life at all. As erie as it was, I was more concerned as to where the homeless was. I pray they had found shelter from the cold somewhere. We did find one young man walking toward the Rescue Mission, we spoke with him and he confirmed that he was headed to the Mission, we gave him a sleeping bad and he was grateful. YPD told us that with the snow we had during the day, that perhaps our homeless friends had found shelter to fight the cold. Tonight was just the beginning... Open Arms WILL be back downtown again at night looking to help out those who are unable to find shelter, offering blankets, sleeping bags, coats, hats, scarves and gloves. Thank you for all you support and concern as we were downtown!! Jason, thank you for going downtown with me..... All of the donations of blankets, sleeping bags, scarves, gloves and hat will be put to good use.... I am speaking to a youth group at Old North Sunday morning as they are preparing box lunches for Open Arms to take to the homeless. Very cool huh? Sunday afternoon I will be passing the lunches out along with the winter gear still in my Escape. I will post more about the events afterwards. Thank you again.... Much love to all.... Wayne
