UNITED STATES EMBASSY THE HAGUE, THE NETHERLANDS Security Message for U.S. Citizens U.S. citizens in the Netherlands should be aware that release of declassified versions of the executive summary, findings, and conclusions of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s study on the CIA’s Rendition, Detention and Interrogation program could prompt anti-U.S. protests and violence against U.S. interests, including private U.S. citizens. U.S. citizens should pay attention to their surroundings and take appropriate safety precautions, including avoiding demonstrations or confrontational situations. In general, protests in the Netherlands are peaceful. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful, however, can turn confrontational and escalate into violence with little warning.
