UNIVERSITY CITY SYMPHONY KICKS OFF 2013-2014 SEASON WITH A FREE CONCERT AT CONCORDIA SEMINARY ON OCT. 13 The University City Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 2013-2014 season with a concert at Concordia Seminary Chapel, 801 Seminary Place in Clayton, on Sunday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. This concert season for the Symphony will have a theme of “Brazil, Basics and Beyond.” The Concordia concert will feature the music of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, called the “single most significant creative figure in 20th-century Brazilian art music.” “We invite everyone in the community to come hear a wonderful concert at Concordia,” said Maestro Leon Burke III, Music Director and Conductor for the Symphony. “The selections will provide delightful surprises for the audience.” The new president of the University City Symphony, Dr. Deborah Carlin, is busy working to raise awareness and support for the Symphony. “The UCSO has been around for more than 50 years and is a community gem well worth supporting,” said Carlin. “Great things are born of beautiful music.” This is the 54th season for the University City Symphony Orchestra.
