UNLUCKY 7 AND PLANE DISASTERS The - TopicsExpress

UNLUCKY 7 AND PLANE DISASTERS The other night, I stayed up almost until dawn closely monitoring the minute to minute updates on the breaking news about the new tragic airline disaster in strife-torn Ukraine involving, yet again, Malaysian Airlines that claimed innocent lives. It was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. Thats the magic of the internet and social media that gave real time running news, from the other side of the globe. I felt sad for another case of collateral damage of war. As I went to sleep already almost dawn, something suddenly crossed my mind.I jumped out of bed to check some data. I found an interesting common thread to those plane disasters: the number 7. 1) Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 crashed after being reportedly shot down by a surface-to-air missile over Ukraine last July 17. 2) Earlier, Malaysian Airlines MH317 disappeared from the radar screens and up to now it is still missing and being searched. Both aircrafts were described as Boeing 777s. 3) Many years ago, in 1998, it was Cebu Pacific Flight 387 that crashed in the outskirts of Cagayan de Oro City. I was the crisis manager then that President Ramos assigned to handle coordination of the incident. That was one of my unforgettables. 4) Then I remember a similar airline incident in September, 1983. Korean Airlines flight KAL 007, a Boeing 747 aircraft was shot down when it strayed into Russian territory. All passengers and crew died. This sounds eerie, I know, but Number 7 is becoming a favorite but tragic number for airlines although I have fengshui friends who have positive vives with number 7. If I were in the airline business, henceforth I would skip No. 7 in assigning flight numbers. I take plane rides almost every week. I am not really superstitious but with all this happening, you cant blame me now if I will be a bit watchful about flight numbers with No. 7. Yes, strange coincidences indeed!
