UNLUCKY Celtic midfielder Tom Rogics hopes of a comeback with Australia have been scuppered. Coach Ange Postecoglou has overlooked the 21-year-old for his squad for next months friendlies against the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Rogics groin injury has kept him out of Ronny Deilas plans since the start of the season and the Socceroos boss said: Toms had a little bit of a setback and I understand hes had to have another operation. That will mean another lengthy absence and that rules him out of Asian Cup calculations. From what I understand, hes still got a fair bit of work to do in rehab. Im disappointed for him because he obviously wants to get back playing. Injuries are part of a footballers journey. We tried to get him up for the World Cup Finals, but that didnt work. I think the best thing for him is to concentrate on his rehab and make sure he gets fit. Rogic played through the pain barrier for almost 12 months to keep his World Cup hopes alive. Ex-boss Neil Lennon loaned him to Melbourne Victory in January to try to give him some game time, but the youngster, bought from Central Coast Mariners for £400,000 in January 2013, continued to struggle for peak fitness. Rogic has made only 11 league appearances for the SPFL champions and has two-and-a-half years of his current contract to run.
