UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT - I used to think that drag was pure misogyny….but i think that its more of an unintended consequence rather than the ideology behind drag. Hear me out... Gay men who have been vilified by cishets for their feminine expression, over-accentuate it in drag as a reclamation. Only a few months ago I was considering a movement to protest against drag culture in its entirety, but I have since come to realize why drag came into being - as a means for gay men traditionally persecuted for feminine expression, to go all out to the point of PARODYING THEMSELVES. I now see drag as not as rooted in misogyny, or parody of women, but self-parody for their own feminine expression. As such, as long as they respect women and the T, I have no issues with drag itself anymore
