UNTO THEE, O LORD, DO I LIFT UP MY SOUL. PSALMS 25:1. TODAY I awoke with the words of this psalm on my lips, and I began to worship the Living God who has blessed me afresh, and given me a new lease of life. He it is who keeps me steady and makes me useful, and to Him I lift my all in adoration. The Psalmist continues to invite us into his confidence and trust in the Lord as he pleads for safety from his enemies, of whom there were many, even within his own household. For families in this age, this scenario is all too true, but there are subtler enemies which assault the believer at every turn: enemies of spite, malice, doubt, guilt, mistrust, slothfulness, worry and anxiety wait in the wings to sap the life of the unwary. May we be encouraged by this timely counsel from the book of Ephesians which advises thus:- See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5: 15 & 16. O MY GOD, I TRUST IN THEE: LET ME NOT BE ASHAMED, LET NOT MINE ENEMIES TRIUMPH OVER ME. PSALMS 25:2.
