=============================================== UPA gifted 59 government-accommodations just before elections =============================================== It refers to RTI response revealing Cabinet Committee for Accommodation (CCA) of earlier UPA regime having approved 59 cases of extending retention of government-accommodations like freebies on 26.02.2014 just on eve of recently held Lok Sabha elections. It is sad that important public-interest verdict dated 05.07.2013 in the matter ‘SD Bandi vs Divisional Traffic Officer, KSRTC & others’ (Civil Appeal number 4064 of 2004) was bypassed in such an arbitrary manner by the then political rulers. Narender Modi government should review all such cases of arbitrary extending retention of government-accommodations made after the said Supreme Court verdict dated 05.07.2013. Moreover in a bid to discipline the system, such discretion of CCA should be abolished, and any one desiring relaxation from guidelines set by Supreme Court may have to approach Supreme Court itself. Prime Minister should also undo direct/indirect conversion of government-bungalows at 6 Krishna Menon Marg and 10-12-14 Gurudwara Rakabganj Road in in New Delhi against norms laid down by Union Cabinet in the year 2000, which are also in violation of construction-norms set for Leyton’s zone apart from guidelines set in Supreme Court verdict dated 05.07.2013.
