UPCOMING CHURCH. The Reformed Catholic Church held the last of its 47 county meetings in Kericho town on Sunday. The church split from the Roman Catholic Church in 2006. Bishop Godfrey Shiundu said the church, which allows priests to marry is headed for great things, despite strong resistance from the mother church. Speaking to journalists after the mass at Highlands Primary School, Shiundu said intimidation from the mother church will not stop them from spreading the word of God. He said there is nothing wrong with priests marrying and having families. “There is no Bible verse that prohibits marriage for those who wish to have families. It is up to priests to choose to marry or not,” Shiundu said. “I will not be intimidated by those opposed to the new church. I will work with the government and other well-wishers in developing it.” Shiundi said he will work with, MPs, governors and senators. He said he will approach MPs for financial assistance through CDF.
