UPDATE 10:00AM Three Kidney Categories: URINE OUTPUT: Yesterday he had a lot of urine output! Thats the first sign in kidney recovery. We need him to pee AND clean the blood too. CLEARANCE: His creatinine and BUN went up slightly, meaning that his blood is only slightly dirtier today than yesterday. It could be much worse. BLOOD PRESSURE: Kidneys produce a hormone (renin) that helps regulate blood pressure. Through this entire stay, Michael has despised getting his BP taken (which results in a high BP because hes screaming). Yesterday his BP was high, even on a calm reading. He was given a medicine to lower blood pressure. Even then, his systolic was over 170. 😁 While he doesnt seem to need dialysis today based on clearance and urine, being that hes on a blood thinner for the clot and has high blood pressure... Seizure risk is high! To be safe, he is getting dialysis today and hopefully removing some fluid will help lower his BP. On a good note, a high BP all of a sudden could mean that kidneys are trying to get working again and are producing the hormone that assists with blood pressure (but isnt regulating well just yet). Pray that his kidneys continue to improve and become regulated. #michaelculpjr
