UPDATE 10-12-14: Today started off with a massive migraine for me that made me sick on my stomach. I wanted to be at the hospital in time to see the Dr, but that didnt happen. He did call me and asked about starting Dylan on a different kind of medicine called clonidine. He said it works better, sometimes, than a beta blocker, for neuro storming. I agreed that we should try it. After hanging up with him, I took some medicine and decided to shower and try to make it to the hospital. I usually relax in a warm bath when I get migraines, but this room only has a shower. When I got out of the shower, all I could do was crawl back in bed. I did not wake up until 1130. I felt really bad! I had no idea how Dylan had done through the night! I had no idea how he was doing at that moment! What if he was having another episode? I wasnt there to try to calm him! I felt horrible!! But I also know that a migraine is my bodys way of telling me that I need to slow down and rest. I usually get them after several days of too little sleep. So I know I made the right decision to sleep in. When I got to the hospital around noon, Dylan was arched back and his heart rate was 160. They said he had done this off and on all night and all morning. I tried to calm him down and his heart rate came down to the 130s. It stayed above 110 all day until this evening when mom got there. She and the nurse turned Dylan and got him comfortable and we looked up and his heart rate was 92!! I told her to try to switch the hand grip while he was resting (the one he had was stained with blood from yesterdays IV attempts) and as soon as she started messing with his (right) hand, his heart rate went up to 160! I am really confused now, because although there has been something going on with his hand/arm all week, it was his left one before!! Who knows!? He did have another episode of arching his back and heart rate of 160 a little later but calmed fairly quickly. When I left the hospital a little while ago, he was resting. His heart rate was in the 120s. His BP has been really good all day. He hasnt urinated much today so they did a bladder scan. He does have quite a bit in there, so if he doesnt go soon, they are going to drain his bladder with a catheter.
