UPDATE 10-13-14: Today has been a better day. Dylan hasnt had any storming since yesterday evening. His heart rate was still hanging out in the 110s most of the morning though. He had a good wet brief at 9 am, but then several hours went by and he was dry. He usually goes at least every 2 hours. At about 4pm, the nurse scanned his bladder and it showed almost 400ccs. She got a catheter and told Dylan she was going to drain his bladder. As soon as she said that, she looked down and said Whoa! Hes going! He was going on his own! And boy, did he go!! Afterward she scanned his bladder again and it said 0. I guess he didnt want to be cathed again! And his heart rate came down to the 80s! Shortly after that, he got moved to a step-down unit. Another unit, with new people who dont know Dylan, a zillion questions to answer! Im going to make a FAQ list and start handing them out so I can save my voice. ☺ We were a little skeptical about the care at first, but everyone has been really nice and wants to learn about Dylan and take their best care of him. He has done really well, except a couple of times today when we moved his fingers on his right hand, his heart rate would start to go up, then we would stop. His rate also goes up when his bladder gets full. I thought it might be painful because of being cathed for a urine sample Saturday am in the ER. They used lidocaine jelly and I was thinking it may have had something to do with it. He was able to go on his own again this evening though. When I left the hospital a little while ago, all of his vitals were great and he was so relaxed his mouth was hanging open! Thanks for the continued prayers!!
