Two agencies have already upgraded to a minor Tropical Depression... WP17 may become a Depression within a day or two. LPA INFO | at 8 AM today, WP17 (98W) was located at 12.6°N 129.4°E… about 580 km East-Southeast of Virac, Catanduanes... or 520 km East of Catarman City in Northern Samar | Maximum winds within the disturbance are now estimated at 20-25 Knots or 35-45 KPH | Surface pressure has dropped to 1004 MB. NOTES -- WP17 (98W) continues to organize in a very favorable environment aided by a High in the upper levels to the Northeast, providing the system exhaust. -- Rainclouds and Thunderstorms from the system continue to produce rainshowers and thunderstorms over parts of Palau Islands, Visayas and Mindanao and now includes Bicol Region. -- JMA-Tokyo and CWB-Taiwan has WP17 (98W) as a minor Tropical Depression in its latest weather bulletins. -- Forecast Models are still almost unanimous in developing WP17 into a Storm in the next 2 days, to track into the North Philippine Sea... Should the northerly track occur, moisture inflow to Luzon is possible by next week with the onset of the Southwest Monsoon.
