UPDATE #3 – things are slowly returning to some semblance of normality. Olivia has been home of 1 week now after her accident. Last week was really nuts – we were busy with Doctor appointments – she saw her Doctor, had her eyes checked for damage and had a CT Scan in Drumheller. She is slowly trying to put her clothing away in her room and we are finding room for belongings that will be going back to UofR when she is ready. Olivia is having terrible headaches, and can’t handle noise of any kind. We have a very quiet household at the moment. After my last post, I had several people recommend Bowen Therapy for Olivia. Tomorrow we have an appointment in Red Deer with a Bowen Therapist – I have only heard wonderful things about this form of pain treatment – let’s hope is make a difference. We received a lovely hand written card from the Dean of Education at UofR. In his note he advised us that the entire policy and procedures regarding accidents involving students is now under review. So something good is going to come of this. We also received a letter from the Assoc VP of Student Affairs; Olivia’s resident fees have been refunded, as have her fees. They are holding her space in the program, pending her returning and have worked out academic plans depending on when she returns. She will also be given priority to get back into Residence. I thought I would finish off the month’s news update by telling you that the cough I picked up in Regina just after Olivia’s accident, eventually turned into pneumonia. It is slowly getting better, but it sure wears me out.
