UPDATE(APC PRAYS FOR FAYEMI OVER EKITI ELECTION):Members of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State on Friday held a special prayer session for Governor Kayode Fayemi’s victory in the June 21 governorship poll in the state. The special prayer session, held at the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, was led by a federal lawmaker and Director-General of the campaign organisation, Bimbo Daramola. Among those in attendance were the Deputy Director-General of the organisation, Mr. Biodun Omoleye; Director of Media, Dimeji Daniels; Director, in-House Communication, Mr. Sanmi Omiata; and Director of Finance, Mrs. Bunmi Adelugba. Daramola, while addressing journalists shortly after the prayer, said elaborate talks on the welfare of Ekiti people and the achievements of Fayemi’s administration would form the kernel of the campaign. Daramola, who represents the Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1 in the National Assembly, said, “We will embark on agenda-setting and issue-based campaign. We are assuring you that the campaign will be violence-free.” He pledged the party’s readiness to comply with the directives of the Independent National Electoral Commission on campaign, saying the party would launch out on March 23 in conformity with the Electoral Act. He said, “What we are doing today is to seek the face of God in preparation for the election and not to campaign. Members of this campaign outfit were carefully selected based on individual competencies and we are not going to betray the confidence reposed in us. “We have to work for Fayemi’s second term. Getting the mandate of the people is worth working for. You don’t stumble on it.”
