UPDATE: Accused Denied Bail and Next Court Date is January 12th, 2015 in Case of State vs Marvelous Kandemiri (Touts Stripping Girl Case) The accused appeared at the Harare Magistrates court today facing charges of indecent assault following the widely report case of stripping of a girl in Harare this month. There was a massive national outrage with Zimbabweans near and far calling for justice. In cases of violence against women, and as such as in this case, the following are some of the reasons why the court would deny the accused person bail: - the gravity of the offence. - possible interference with the investigations, especially where some of the co-accused or accomplices are still at large. - Potential for influencing or tempering with evidence, including contacts with witnesses. - Possibility of absconding/leaving the country I did not not attend court and therefore am not privy to the details underlying the decision of the court in denying bail to the accused person. In your view, did the court make the right decision, and if YES; why; AND if you think the Court did not make the right decision, why NOT!
