UPDATE: Additional charges are being filed in connection with the disappearance and presumed death of 4-year-old Colton Turner, Austin Police announced Friday. An 11:30 a.m. news conference has been called, where police are expected to give more details about the case. Turner’s mother, Megan Work is being held in the Travis County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond in connection with the boy’s disappearance. Her boyfriend, Michael Brandt Turner, is also facing charges. According to court documents obtained by KXAN following her arrest, Work told police Colton hit his head on an air conditioning unit as the result of an assault. He later had what appeared to be a seizure and died. Work told investigators she was afraid she and Michael Turner would get in trouble if they took the toddler to the emergency room. Austin Police found a child’s body in Southeast Austin after Michael Turner led police to the place where he said he buried the body. The investigation into the boy’s death prompted The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to fire three employees after determining the agency “failed” Colton Turner. An investigation showed several case workers failed to complete all the necessary steps while investigating reports of neglect and abuse.
