UPDATE: Angel, the miracle dog! Found in a desolate area of the Everglades ecosystem by local people, injured, suspected of being duct taped to a tree and freeing herself. There was a pile of animal bones below the tree. Attempts to lure her into a cage trap failed in the thick brush and MDAS was called in to assist. No Kill Nation kindly stepped up to take responsibility for her release and Everglades Abandoned Dog Rescue was asked to assist with fostering and vetting. We took her to Dr. Arun at Summit Blvd Animal Hospital in West Palm Beach and she was admitted with an internal infection, eye and face lacerations, dehydration, emaciation and nearly blind. Her eye lacerations and cuts on the bridge of her nose are consistent with her trying to chew through entrapment. Exactly what did happen to Angel, only Angel knows for sure, but whatever it was, scared her nearly to death. Today we are happy to say, she is on her way to a full recovery. Her eyes, cuts and bruises are healing and she is learning to trust. No one will ever hurt you again Angel. You have our promise!
