UPDATE....BEAR ATTACK IN CENTRAL POINT We do know now this is a sow, (female), with two cubs. This may have been what instigated the attack. She might have been defending her cubs. If that was the case, this would change the order to kill a bear involved in an attack. A sow with cubs is going to get a reprieve from the kill order. However, for people living in the Grant Road / Old Stage Road area...it is going to get NOISY. They will likely use flash bangs to get the bears moving back into the hills to the west of the area. They are also likely to use bean bags and rubber bullets, (non lethal projectiles), to try to get the bears moving. They will not use dogs as the bears would tree and they want to keep them moving. If the victim says he was minding his own business and she attacked with zero provocation, it could still turn out bad for the bear. But, being with cubs, they would only use lethal force if they were sure she would likely be a continued threat to the area. Males, (boars), get NO reprieve in Oregon. If a male attacks a human they are hunted down and killed.
