UPDATE: CHP says Jose Victor Garcilazo Palencia, 67, of Los Angeles, was the driver at both the crash site north of Pollard Flat in Shasta County, and at the minor crash at Dennys in Red Bluff. Palencia drifted off the road and the bus rolled over an embankment, resting on its roof. A man, 33, from Parlier, California died at the scene, and 30 people were injured. According to hospital officials, 5 patients are still hospitalized at Mercy Medical in Redding, with two in critical condition. Eleven have been released. All 4 patients taken to Shasta Regional have been discharged. Ten were taken to Mercy Medical Mt. Shasta, and all but 2 have been discharged. The CHP says the bus originated from Los Angeles, and its final destination was Pasco, Washington. The CHP says the bus is owned by Yellow Arrow Lines, based in Othello, Washington. According to the granddaughter of one of the women on the bus, the bus is operated by Estrella Blanca. She says the bus will pick up passengers from various locations of the state for around $40, and drop them off at their destination.
