UPDATE FROM SATURDAY, MAY 1st: The Art Miles Murals Project from concept on a 8.5x11 to a 5x9 canvas to be displayed world wide; Within Arms Reachs concept is as follows: We designed an abstract mural that uses our non-profitss logo as well as an aerial view of the seashore, which is an environment known for its graceful convergence of two contrasting realms. Utilizing elements of design we crafted a showcase of converging dichotomy such as; warm vs. cool, solid vs. liquid, and concrete vs. fluidity to show that we as a community can bridge out and build a better future together despite any differences or challenges. The warm colors of the shore studded with angular rocks and sand can be seen transitioning into the cool colors of the ocean, swimming with organic shapes and movement. This beautiful interplay of complementary communities symbolizes to us the richness of culture present in the communities of Long Beach, as it is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. These communities work together to foster a strong education system for the future of their children, just as the ocean and shore work together to foster life for plants and animals, and the many generations to come.
