UPDATE: Friday March 14 2014 - It just NEVER ends !! Educated the Dr this afternoon on what ECMO is and how it is /was the cause of his strokes, even showed him images and explained how the machine works and its purpose , as well as the man who implemented the life saving treatment. He is in therapy from 7:30 -11:30, in the cafeteria from 11:30 - 1200 , back into therapy from 1;00 until about 3:00 / 3:30 , and back to cafeteria around 4:30 , so by the end of the day he is wore OUT !1 he talked me into coming home for the night had SERIOUS reservations but finally agreed because he had company coming and I knew after that he would get his night meds ( approximately 8:30) and sleep. I called him at 9:10 to make sure he was settled in for the nigh .. well DUH !!! what was I thinking !!! NO meds, NO feeding pump !! I called front desk, asked for charge nurse , explained the situation and told her i needed to know what the problem was .... 5 minutes later, he called me and said They just came in and gave me my meds and hooked me up Imagine that !! Just because Im not there dont mean I dont know whats going on !! HOWEVER!!! Therapy is going great, vital stim seems to be working , today he had his first bowl of soup, his first sips of water, some sherbert and drank some ensure from a straw !!!!!!! HUGE accomplishment !!! Monday she will try pureed foods and see how that goes. She does feel he will need at least another 7/10 days of intensive inpatient therapy and as much as 3/4 weeks of outpatient vital stim 3 days per week. I just imagine I will likely be going back tomorrow afternoon after his therapy is finished for the day
