Melissa Ielpi-Brengel, of Huntington Station, woke up to find the flag once again outside her home, and a note stating simply, “I am so sorry, I had no idea.” Ielpi-Brengel received the flag in memory of her brother, 29-year-old Jonathan Ielpi, a member of the FDNY’s Squad 288 in Queens, who was killed in the September 11 terror attacks. The flag flew over the World Trade Center site during the recovery and cleanup efforts, and then in front of Ielpi-Brengel’s home in Huntington Station. “Good news, our flag was returned this morning. It was outside the house when we woke up,” she wrote on Facebook. “Thank you all for spreading the word and helping us get our flag back. You guys are all amazing.” Read the full story here: pix11/2014/07/04/stolen-flag-returned-to-fallen-firefighters-sister-on-4th-of-july/
