UPDATE: Hope is in surgery! Please send well wishes for our sweet girl and continue to share her story. Were still several hundred dollars short of covering her FHO surgery. Weve collected $170 of $750 for Hopes surgery. Thats a great start! Can you help us by taking a minute to read her story and consider sharing or donating so we can get her the FHO surgery she needs? We have a very special girl to introduce to you, and its our hope and prayer that youll rally around her as you have many others in the past. Hope was found wandering about an area neighborhood with a hurt leg and the appearance of having recently had a litter of puppies. A kind family took her in, began her initial vetting and contacted us after no owner was located. While shes only about five years old, she has some serious leg and hip issues from past trauma that we know little to nothing about. After extensive x-rays and research, it was determined that the best approach is to start with a FHO (femoral head ostectomy) on the side where her hip is out of socket. After shes had sufficient time to recover, well have her reevaluated to see if its the best plan of care to move forward with surgery on the other leg (possible amputation), or if the FHO surgery alone provides her with the best quality of life. It is apparent that her legs and hips cause her pain when she lays certain ways, though shes learned to adapt and gets around better than youd expect! Shes a very sweet girl and is thriving in her foster home. Will you join us in giving Hope a deservedly bright future? Her initial procedure, the FHO, will be $750.
