UPDATE: I just spoke to Madge and she says that the dog is still at the vet and he will be operating next week. She has had a couple of offers for foster homes and people who have offered to contribute to the vet bill (which is going to be hefty) - thank you so much people. :) EXTREMELY URGENT!! Please share for a forever or foster home, please please, Cape Town!!! 14 August 20:20 SOS - I rescued a beautiful doggy today who had been knocked down on the N2 motorway between Stellenbosch and Cape Town. Was driving back from a business meeting and saw this poor doggy with her head back howling on the side of the road. I reversed back slowly and stopped beside her. She lay still and watched me. When I was sure she wasnt aggressive I slowly approached her and could see she was in pain and unable to stand. She nuzzled my hand as I caressed her head and spoke to her. Such gentle, pleading eyes, full of pain. I tried to flag down another motorist to help me but everyone zoomed past (dont you just hate that?!). I eventually managed to very gently get my arms underneath her, trying to keep her level to avoid any further injury, and lift her into my car. She cried out in pain but never once growled or tried to bite me. I rushed her to the vet and it turns out that she has two badly broken back legs. The vet feels she should be put down as shes a stray and the risk of her spending the rest of her life in a welfare cage will be just too hard on her after the trauma of operations. I want to give this poor sweet girl, who called out for help, another chance. The vet says her injuries will mend but she needs TLC. I will pay for the operations somehow as long as someone will adopt her afterwards. Or at the very least foster her back into good health. She is a beautiful brak, with the most gentle nature. She is tan and short haired, with long graceful legs. She looks like she has greyhound in her. Please please forward this to every kind hearted soul you know who may be able to help. Shes on morphine while we see if we can find her a loving home. There is a tight deadline here so I need urgent help. Please everyone? Madge Gibson Ph 084 266 9920
