UPDATE: Katrina Beers will be staying at Bryn Mawr for a few more weeks - not entirely sure how many. The doctors would like to give her ankles some more attention, so theyre giving the orthopedic surgeons a call and seeing what they can do to straighten out the ankles. This way shell have a better chance at walking with the therapy. Shes also going to be seeing an ENT (ear, nose, throat) doctor to make sure there is nothing happening inside that we cant see. Shes been having some bleeding in her mouth, and the nurses are taking a lot of precautions while cleaning her. Her eyes are looking better, still a little pink, and irritated, so theyve been putting moisture drops in, and anti-biotics to keep them from getting worse. The optometrist is still trying to determine the cause for the irritation, aside from minimal blinking. The new medications seem to be helping with her depression, although its hard to know what shes thinking and feeling without the communication. She hasnt made too much more progress with words or hand gestures yet. But Katrinas crying episodes are less frequent. This weekend, we will be meeting at the Walnutport Canal to take a group photo of everyone whos supporting Katrina on her journey. This Team Katrina group photo will be blown up and given to Katrina to keep on her wall, to see the faces of all of us who are by her side. If you can make it, everyones welcome! Sunday Nov.16th, 4pm at the Walnutport Canal Association. Come early, have some refreshments and spend time with us!! Thank you to all whove prayed for my sister over the last 4 months. Shes got a long road to recovery ahead, and I hope you all continue to love and support her, near and far.
