UPDATE ON APARTMENT: Things are coming together wonderfully. We have had food donated so the kitchen is getting stocked. Thank you to those who are helping us with food. If you want to donate food.... please make sure it has not expired. Easy fix meals are the best such as frozen pizzas, macaroni and cheese and such. We are good on blankets but could use blow up mattresses. Cots are also very helpful. It is nice to get the people off the floor. We are good in the soap department but could use more deodorant. Still in need of sweatpants. We have been very careful on cleanliness. We still do not have a washer at this time... so we are making sure that when the homeless enter the apartment they take a shower immediately and we have them seal there clothes in a garbage bag which is taken out and washed at the laundermat. We would like to get different sizes of sweatpants for them to put on after their shower and after we can get them some clothing. We could use people who would like to donate time to supervise, maybe a couple hours here and there to give us a break...especially on weekends. It would be nice to get people to help during the hours of 6 until 9 pm.... until we get there for the overnight part. The hours of the apartment are 6 pm to 9:00 am. We are finding that some of these people have nowhere to go on the weekends and there are few places open to stay warm. Right now, John and I are taking turns spending the nights... with Angie and Terry helping on weekend nights and the afternoon hours when they can. We also could use some men who would be willing to stay the night in case we are unable to stay... due to family emergencies or other things that come up. Message me if anyone is interested. You will need to be responsible and have great compassion for Gods less fortunate and homeless. These people have no-one and it can really be rewarding, knowing that you are making there day... by being there for them.
