UPDATE ON GENESIS AND HIS HOME VISIT THIS WEEKEND. PLEASE SHARE HIM!! A donor has still agreed to donate $100 to AAR if we get 250 shares on this sweet boy! While Genesis was at our house, he was a cuddly, playful little dog. He got along with our small dog and enjoyed having a buddy to play with. He did not bark at other dogs or get nippy with the leash like we see sometimes at the shelter. He needs some work with cats or he needs to go to a cat-free home, since he started growling at Kitten. He did try to mark one of the rooms in our house when he first got there, but once we cleaned it up, Lysol-ed it, and put him outside, he stopped. Genesis liked playing tug-o-war with us at the house and would chase thrown toys (but would not bring them back). When we put him in his crate for the night, he was perfectly fine and seemed content. Genesis enjoyed being groomed and actually liked the shower. He knows the commands no, out, wait, and sit. When we took Genesis to the park, he did well with kids, but he seemed nervous when they decided to crowd him (but he didnt growl, nip, bark, or anything). If youre looking for a cuddly Netflix marathon buddy. Genesis has been at the shelter too long. Here is his story: I was living with other dogs in an open environment and they were picking on me. When my owner brought me to AAR for vet care, one of the wonderful volunteers wanted to help me. She took me to her home, got me away from those mean dogs, and showered me with kisses. When I got a spot at AAR, she was happy but I may have been a bit sad. I bark at the other dogs and they dont seem to like me. I got adopted for a short time but the adopter wanted me to play ball and fetch but I just didnt want to do that, so I was returned. I want to be petted, brushed, walked, and loved. I am independent and love to explore the backyard and smell all those wonderful aromas. I am looking for a home that allows me to enjoy the fenced backyard and then enjoy some love and attention. Are you looking for a dog like me? Genesis joined the AAR volunteers at Best Friends dog walk a few weeks ago and did fine with all the other dogs around. When he was adopted, he loved playing with the neighbors dog. Genesis really deserves another chance. He is such a good boy. Here he is dressed up for the runway dog walk at the Best Friends event. He took 2nd place!!
