***UPDATE ON LAC LA BICHE POWER OUTAGE*** 1,790 residents in the Lac La Biche area are without power right now. According to Fortis Alberta, there is a breaker open in the area. According to the Lac La Biche RCMP, power lines were hit on Beaverhill Road near the Provincial Building. Updates as they come, we are in constant contact with both Fortis and the RCMP. ***RCMP PRESS RELEASE BELOW*** BUSY DAY FOR EMERGENCY CREWS: RCMP and Lac La Biche County Fire advise of a major power disruption to a large portion of Lac La Biche County, including Heart Lake. Power lines have been struck on Beaverhill Road near the Provincial Building. Motorists and the public are asked to stay away from the area. Also, the Bold Center has been evacuated due to a natural gas leak. The line has since been closed, but the facility remained closed. Motorists are reminded to treat non-operational traffic lighted intersections as a four-way stop. Emergency and Fortis crews are working to resolve the problems as soon as possible. Cst.
