UPDATE ON MALAYSIANS STRANDED IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that as of 1600hrs, 59 people have been identified as Malaysians are stranded in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Among 59 of the Malaysians, 40 of them are students and 19 are holiday-makers, visiting the region. Officials from the Malaysian Consulate General in Chennai, India have also informed that 16 students have arrived in New Delhi last night and are awaiting for the next available flight to Kuala Lumpur. The Ministry and Consulate General in Chennai are in the midst of collecting more information on the Malaysians still in Jammu and Kashmir as well as assisting the evacuation and rendering appropriate assistance to Malaysians in the affected areas with the cooperation of the local authorities.
