UPDATE ON MAMA (Tammy Reissig)! Sorry for the long wait, for this being on FB & not having time to call/text/email each person (so if you can spread the word please do). Mom has surgery tomorrow for her peg (feeding) tube and has lost quite a bit of weight (now weighs 110 lbs). A few weeks ago mom met with a lung doctor here in FW and her oxygen was measured at 22%. This means she will need to make some serious decisions. The peg tube is pertinent for her nutrition at this point. Mom has an air mattress hospital bed at the house and sleeps with her bi-pap (oxygen machine like a c-pack) at night and requires a cough assistant machine during the day multiple times an hr. She no longer can move pretty much any body part on her own and she essentially cannot drive the her chair (theres a toggle attached to the back with a cord so we can do it for her now). Someone has to sleep with her and she is on much stronger pain meds because shes in a lot of pain all day long. Mom spends a lot of time in her bed and hopefully hospice will get us one for the living room. Were looking into a trilogy ventilator type thing (which I dont know much about) but it could extend her life a short period of time but we do not know for sure as everyone with ALS responds differently. Please avoid texting/calling Tessa or the house phone tomorrow as she will be so busy getting mom ready.
